I should add....not entirely a failure of the FCC that a market is over radioed.. sure they allot the frequencies, but too many broadcasters believe just because you CAN shove a frequency in, you SHOULD do it. Just because there's spectrum space doesnt mean you should actually light it up. KLXR had no website and a sparse social media presence as I recall.
I worked for a standalone 25,000 Watt FM in the market and WE STRUGGLED to break even some months. I can't imagine how a 1kw standalone AM managed to last this long KLXR ran "The America's Best Music" soft adult oldies format from Westwood One via satelitte feed.
