As usual, it was a very rough psychological transition to go from enjoying
awesome DU-DX at an ocean side cliff.to end up looking for big gun Asians in
the noise at a mediocre inland location. The temptation to write off the entire
effort and continue file review from the recent Rockwork trip was great. Some
back yard RF noise from the neighbor's house didn't help. But if not for the
experience of chasing mediocre "minor league" DX like this, how else can
someone really appreciate the chance to take a "Frequent Flyer" FSL to a place
like Hawaii, Tahiti or the Cook Islands, and make out like a TP-DXing bandit?
The mediocre session was mainly a lesson in humility. Everybody needs to
come down to earth sooner or later.
