Dear Ratboxers,
I'm a bit confused over how to read the /stats l counters. Check this
output for 2 clients shortly after CLICONN:
linknick|server sendq smsgs sbytes rmsgs rbytes timeopen
L:line xasup : 0 82 6 4 0 17 14
linknick|server sendq smsgs sbytes rmsgs rbytes timeopen
L:line r3 : 0 77 5 5 0 15 3
Here, it seems obvious that rmsgs tracks messages received by the server
(from client), and smsgs track server messages (sent by server to client).
But, check this out:
linknick|server sendq smsgs sbytes rmsgs rbytes timeopen
L:line Beige : 0 11959 12916 28882 545 1315157 0
<Here I flooded client "Beige" with external clients, resulting in ~20
messages sent to Beige>
linknick|server sendq smsgs sbytes rmsgs rbytes timeopen
L:line Beige : 0 11961 12918 28901 545 1315193 0
The ~20 messages were now factored in rmsgs rather than the expected
smsgs. Is it possible the counter logic has been accidentally mixed up
between server messages, PRIVMSGs and possibly other kinds of traffic?
For clarity, I'm running:
