Like in every other enterprise you are going to have to decide how much your time is
worth and how much people are willing to pay. Make sure you factor in all the costs.
It's not just wires and glue, it is also: Barrels, Tips, grubscrews, springs (for both
epee & foil), tape, wire insulation (for the guard) and tools. Also don't forget that
these items are not all "universal". A France Lame foil blade-wire will NOT fit into a
Uhlmann barrel. What is your set of tools like? On top of the standard set of
screwdrivers, pliers etc. I would advise the following as a minimum for a professional
armourer: Large vice fixed to a solid surface. Bending maraging blades is a
nightmare :( Barrel spanners. Loose barrels is one of the most common problems on the
foil piste. Barrel spanners are far superior to pliers or anything similar. Test
box. Weights Alen (hex) key
In my opinion I'd say go for it. I spent a little time rewiring blades for money when
I was in college. (Decided to stop due to a lack of time.) There are tons of fencers
out there willing to pay you to get they're blades rewired. Good luck.
