Running on concrete is only bad for your knees if done regularly for long 
periods of time, we walk on our legs all the time and even though the pressure 
on our knees when walking is a small percent compared to running, we would' all 
have chronic knee problems if running once a week would cause serious or even 
minor problems.

Also Eoin i remind you that the run is along a kinda dark route and unless the 
ball is fitted with some sort of light it'd be hard to catch.
The run lasts less than 10 minutes so quit your belly aching, you dont even do 
the run!
