By telling someone to calm down you are instantly dismissing what they are saying as over-emotional and not a valid point. There are many ways of being hositle and one way is to act superior and treat people like children. Funny I figured that you would be the last person to suggest rules on what can and cannot be debated. This is an off topic conversation so if you want to seriously debate female participation in fencing I suggest you start a new thread in an appropriate room am the the "you" that you were referring to Eoin? I couldn't quite figure out. Anyway, it did occur to me to discuss this as another topic, but it crept into this one, and anyway, this thread is perfect for highligting the "Tone" with which certain people address others. (i.e. you!). you are still not acknowledging that what you say might be insensitive and not the correct way of acting in all of the threads except the abuse room.
