It should probably be something more along the lines of
if (typeof(ISerializable).IsAssignableFrom(baseType) &&
!!typeof(RubyObject).IsAssignableFrom(baseType)) {

or

if (typeof(ISerializable).IsAssignableFrom(baseType) && !(baseType ==
typeof(RubyObject))) {
