Cuba adalah rivalnya USA.
Begitu juga Venezuela, negara yang anti kapitalisme
(terutama USA).
Kedua negara ini membangun poros sosialisme untuk
memerangi kapitalisme.
Adalah sebuah langkah politik yang cantik dimana mereka
menawarkan bantuan
kepada musuhnya tatkala musuhnya mendapat musibah bencana
alam.
Mengapa menawarkan bantuan ?
Karena merasa bisa membantu, pastinya.
Tak akan ada tawaran bantuan bila tak bisa membantu.
Sosialisme menawarkan sistem yang berpihak kepada rakyat
dan anti kapitalisme.
Cuba adalah negara yang stabil dalam ke-sosialisme-an nya
dan Venezuela adalah
negara kedua yang akan mendukung Cuba mengembangkan sistem
sosialisme.
Kembali kita renungkan diri kita, Republik Indonesia, yang
telah begitu bejibun
mendapat bantuan dari USA. Apa dan bagaimana nasib kita ?
Negara kecil Cuba yang anti Amerika bisa berdiri sendiri
dan berani menawarkan
bantuan kepada USA.
Mungkin kita sudah lebih kecil dari Cuba.
Pada kemana wahai para mujahid Indonesia ?
Venezuela, Cuba Offer America Aid
Iran Daily, HAVANA, Sept. 3--Two Latin American countries
that are often singled out for criticism by administration
of US President George W. Bush have offered humanitarian
assistance to the United States struggling with the effect
of Hurricane Katrina, AFP reported.
Cuban President Fidel Castro offered Friday to help his
longtime nemesis to the north by sending 1,100 doctors and
medicines to treat the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Some 100 doctors could board a flight to Houston, Texas,
as soon as Friday and 1,000 could arrive Saturday and
Sunday, Castro said in a nationally-televised address.
Cuba would also send 26.4 tons of medicines.
Cuba is ready to help immediately, he said. We offer
concrete things: doctors to the site of the tragedy, which
is exactly what is missing now.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan government contacted the US
Embassy in Caracas, offering money and fuel to help the
United States recover from the monster hurricane.
In a diplomatic note, oil-rich Venezuela repeated
President Hugo Chavezs offer to send aid to the United
States.
Caracas offered to Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco
immediate aid of one million dollars through Citgo, the
US subsidiary of Venezuelas state-owned Petroleos de
Venezuela (PDVSA).
It also offered to send 120 rescue specialists with
first-aid teams.
In addition, Venezuela said it could send two rapid
deployment medical units that can each treat 150 people,
10 water purifiers, eight power generators, 20 tons of
water, 50 tons of canned food and 5,000 blankets.
The United States and Venezuela have had a testy
relationship under Chavez, a leftist who has accused
Washington of wanting to assassinate him.
Chavez also criticized Bush this week over his handling of
the hurricane disaster.
The Cuban president said Cuban doctors have a lot of
experience working in difficult conditions and he did not
expect anything in return for his humanitarian gestures.
