Maniac Islamophobia and Narrow Minded :

Morocco moves to drop headscarf saying hijab is extremism- Quranic verses on hijab removed from school textbooks

Morocco is making major changes to religious education, in particular regarding whether young girls should wear headscarves.
A picture of a mother and her daughter wearing headscarves is being removed from the latest editions of a text book. A verse from the Koran that says girls should don veils has already been taken out of the books. Other Arab countries have made similar changes, worrying that the veil could be used as a symbol of extremism.

Thousands Wrongly on Terror List

Maher Arar, a Canadian software engineer, was detained at New York's Kennedy Airport in 2002 because Canadian officials had asked that he be placed on a watch list. The U.S. transferred him without court approval to Syria where he was tortured and imprisoned for a year. A Canadian inquiry found that Arar should not have been on the list because he didn't do anything wrong.

The "no fly" list doesn't actually work to identify terrorists. It is just for show, something the government does to make it look like they are fighting terrorism while they refuse to do the one thing that would really end terror; stop invading other peoples' countries.

Taliban Back, Using Iraq-Style Violence

The prospect of a second downward spiral - though so far Afghanistan isn't nearly as violent as Iraq - has experts worried that Western militaries don't have an effective strategy for these irregular wars.

"One Iraq is bad enough," said Bruce Hoffman, a counterinsurgency expert at Georgetown University. "Given that our two main theaters of operations aren't going well, one has to question how well the U.S. understands counterinsurgency."

Afghanistan five years later: poverty, violence, misery

Five years into the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, the country is far from won over, or even safely on the path to stability and democracy.

The hard-line Islamic Taliban that appeared down and out has returned, taking control of large swaths of countryside. Widespread poverty has smoothed its way, shaking what little confidence Afghans have in their democratically elected government.

More than 3,000 people have been killed in rising violence this year. Suicide bombers are targeting ordinary Afghans and Western troops. Militants are assassinating key political figures, burning down schools and using roadside bombs to deadly effect.

This must be what Rumsfeld calls 'progress'.

Why They “Hate Us”: Bringing “Regime Change” and “Democracy” to Iran

Iran has direct experience with US sponsored "regime change," and its people are utterly unlikely to rise up against the nation's leadership in support of a US attack.

In the early 1950s the US and Britain overthrew Iran's elected, democratic government: its elected leaders had determined to nationalize Iran's oil.

The Iranian people have a long memory concerning 'regime change' and the installation, courtesy of the US, of one of the most brutal dictators of the 20th century, the Shah of Iran.

Rove aide quits -- she took gifts, gave Abramoff inside information

I am waiting for the mainstream media to ask the obvious question, whether Abramoff was part of the AIPAC spy ring, especially given Mohamed Atta's presence on Abramoff's casino ship in the weeks leading up to 9-11.

Don't Worry, Democrats Won't Impeach Bush, Democrat Says

Weiner (who also worked for the Clinton White House) says Conyers "has told me directly: 'I'm not going to conduct an impeachment. That would take all of our time. I would not want to bring an impeachment investigation because that would drain time and energy from the work that needs to be done, and it would take away the country's attention from issues that need to be addressed.'"

TRANSLATION: "We can't impeach the President for lying the nation into a war because we Democrats helped him do it!"

Is Condi Rice Being Drug Tested? Is Condi Rice Being Drug Tested?

Any way you cut it, Rice is a degenerate accessory to mass murder and is as accountable for the carnage in Lebanon and Gaza as Ehud Olmert. It's one of the reasons she won't be showing her face in Beirut any time soon.

The most despised woman in the Middle East returned to the scene of the crime this week. Condi showed up in Cairo with a pitch to sell the latest neo-con plot -- a "moderate" Arab coalition aligned with Israel against the 'radicals' in Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. She got no takers from the ranks of the assembled audience of seven autocratic absolute monarchs and one Egyptian dictator -- all fine examples of democratic progress in the Middle East.

Apparently, birth pangs aren't Condi's only delusions. Which begs the question. Do they still do drug testing Foggy Bottom? Because The State Department should start with Rice.
