'Disgust' at Saddam sentence
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia's former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday expressed "horror and disgust" over the trial and sentencing of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to death.
"Firstly a court set up by his enemies has no right to try Saddam Hussein," said Mahathir, a member of the international committee for the defence of president Saddam Hussein.
He described the Iraqi high tribunal as a "kangaroo court" set up for the sole purpose of rendering a guilty verdict.

Sunday's announcement of the verdict in the trial of Saddam Hussein and his seven co-defendants was, of course, timed to occur on the eve of the mid-term elections to the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
To what end?
Clearly, to mobilise and motivate U.S. citizens to vote Republican. But how will this work?
It will work the same way that the invasion and occupation worked-emotionally, as the concluding act of a White House scripted morality play.

Crimes against Humanity.
Fate certainly deals a strange hand. President Bush jnr., commented on the conviction of President Saddam Hussein, for crimes against humanity, in Waco, Texas, site of the massacre of the Branch Davidian religious group, in April 1993, by the U.S. Army, FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Under President Bush snr's watch, they laid siege to the building from February to April, subjecting those inside to continual sleep deprivation by playing deafening music and even continual screams of rabbits being slaughtered. Finally, surrounded by tanks, massive amounts of CS gas were sprayed in, then military pyrotechnic devices. Between seventy four and a hundred burned to death, including twelve between one and four years old. The building was then razed to the ground, allegedly to destroy the evidence.

Al-Zaman (Arabic) says that this is the fourth day in the row that this quarter has been attacked this way Al-Zaman also reports that the death toll of demonstrators killed by Iraqi police in Baquba has risen to 20 dead and 23 wounded. The newspaper says that the protesters were unarmed, and were carrying posters of Saddam. They also raised banners criticizing the al-Maliki government. Al-Zaman is calling this brutal repression a "massacre." It also reports street clashes in Haditha between Sunni Arab residents and US marines...
