In 2002, a series of bombings in the Philippines was blamed on Islamic terrorists. Then a bomb went off prematurely, wounding the bomber, Michael Meiring, who fled the Philippines with the apparent help of the US Government.
Authorities soon got a terrible surprise. The Davao police chief discovered Meiring was no longer in the hospital.
In fact, Michael Meiring was gone, vanished and eventually removed from the Philippines- allegedly with the help of officials from the United States Embassy which issued a denial of any involvement in Meiring's departure.

Rumsfeld may face abuse charges
Donald Rumsfeld, who quit as US defence secretary this week, may face criminal charges in Germany for alleged abuses in Guantanamo Bay and Iraq. A complaint has been launched by the US-based Centre for Constitutional Rights, representing a Saudi detained in Cuba and 11 Iraqis held in Baghdad. German law allows the pursuit of cases originating anywhere in the world.
The centre made a similar request in 2004 but German prosecutors dropped that case.

Uranium Weapons Causing Cancer in Iraq
Depleted uranium inhalation has geno-toxic effects on DNA, said Dr. Keith Baverstock in an interview with BBC Radio 4 as someone who worked on the published study.

Al-Quds al-Arabi publishes a summary of a statement by Baath resistance leaderIzzat Ibrahim al-Duri denouncing the recent AP-originated story about laying down their arms, and attributing it to the occuption's disinformation campaign. Al-Duri writes: "Let the dogs of Rome (meaning the empire), and before them the Safavid dogs of Persia know, crouched in their Green Zone fortress, that the coming days will be darker for them than a moonless night..." which is his way of saying they haven't laid down their arms. The word "accident" suggests something for which no one is to blame - like being struck by lightning. A tragedy is a sad event or situation, like that of the New Orleans inhabitants after the disaster. The event in Beit Hanoun was sad indeed, but not an act of God - it was an act decided upon and carried out by human beings.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER the facts became known, the entire choir of professional apologists, explainers-away, sorrow-expressers and pretext-inventors, a choir that is in perpetual readiness for such cases, sprang into feverish action.
