THE LIE OF THE CENTURY
You should be more than angry. You should be in a rage. You should be in
a rage no less than that of the families of those young men and women
who have been killed and maimed in this war started with a lie.You need
to be in a rage and you need to act on that rage because even as I type
these words, the same government that lied about Iraq's nuclear weapons
is telling the exact same lies about Iran's nuclear capabilities. The
writing is on the wall; having gotten away with lying to start the war
in Iraq, the US Government will lie to start a war in Iran, and after
that another, and after that another, and another and another and
another because as long as you remain silent, and as long as you remain
inactive, the liars have no reason to stop.

Democrats Won, But Arabs in America Still Suffer from Bush's War on
Terror
Victimized by outrageous attempts in U.S. courts to tie him to
terrorists groups, Sami Al-Arian, a tenured Palestinian professor who
was fired from the University of South Florida, has spent many months in
prison even after a jury failed to convict him.

Cautious words conceal the true savagery of life in Iraq
The cautious words of the Baker-Hamilton report stand in sharp contrast
to the savagery and terror that dominate everyday life in Baghdad. Many
of the terrible disasters it fears may occur in future are in fact
already happening.

A more devastating indictment of the strategy of a sitting American

Iraq : None Dare Call It Reason
The architects of the Iraq war are people without humane vision, as
inured to death as they are attuned to the profits and geopolitics of
the region's oil and gas reserves. With control over the largest
military force the world has ever seen, they confuse their power with
being right. The media warriors only confuse their access to cables and
satellites with genuine power, the kind that comes from critical
thinking, searching self-reflection, and the capacity to form opinions
that are not for sale.

Does Bush Mean It?
President Bush this morning formally accepted a copy of the Iraq Study
Group's blistering report, vowed to seriously consider its dramatic
recommendations and spoke hopefully about finding common ground for the
good of the country.
Sounds great. But does he mean it?
We'll know for sure once words turn into action. But in the meantime, it
strikes me that as long as Vice President Cheney and political guru Karl
Rove remain Bush's closest advisers, then the answer is probably not.

In Iraq, as in Vietnam, war's exit strategy begins at home
War is often more a matter of who wins political struggles at home, than
who is defeated on the battlefield. In both the wars, in Viet Nam and
now in Iraq, the struggle was, and is, more about what group espousing
what vision of the world, would be dominant in the US, and has had very
little to do with the facts on the ground in those distant countries.

ISRAEL SEEKS TO ALTER A FAILING IMAGE
Palestinians must surely feel heartened by the news that, despite all
the support that Israel gets from its allies at the political level,
public opinion in European and North American countries is decidedly
against Israel. It appears that the country needs every bit of the free-
of-charge services Saatchi and Saatchi (a multinational advertising
agency) is reportedly offering it. Israel is launching a branding
campaign to portray itself as a place that "preserves democratic ideals
while struggling to exist."

The brown-bag crackdown is the latest in a growing list of complaints

The Bible Unearthed
It was under King Josiah that the Bible was finally written and
something resembling modern Judaism begins to take shape in the 7th and
8th centuries BC. It is a political document that is designed to glorify
the Josiah and to connect him falsely with the golden era when the state
of Israel briefly rose up as a powerful and advanced civilized centre.
The Bible is essentially a work of propaganda, weaving historical
fragments and myths of various Canaanite peoples into a powerful
justification for Josiah's rule and expansionist policies.
