BREAKING NEWS: Over 12,000 US Dead, 25,000 Seriously Wounded In Iraq
(Secret DoD)

Note: There is excellent reason to believe that the Department of
Defense is deliberately not reporting a significant number of the dead
in Iraq. We have received copies of manifests from the MATS that show
far more bodies shipped into Dover AFP than are reported officially.

The actual death toll is in excess of 10,000. (See the official records
at the end of this piece.) Given the officially acknowledged number of
over 15,000 seriously wounded (and a published total of 25,000 wounded
overall,), this elevated death toll is far more realistic than the
current 2,000+ now being officially published.

Cornered US Military Takes to Desperate Tactics in Iraq

People living in areas where resistance to U.S.-led occupation is
mounting are facing increased levels of collective punishment from the
occupation forces, residents say.

The Geneva Conventions forbid use of collective punishment.
International law says the occupying power in a country is responsible
for safeguarding the civilian population.

Folks, they don't hate us here because "we're free": they hate us
because, as an army of occupation, we have given no signal about giving
the country well and truly back to the Iraqi people, not just back to a
US-rubber-stamped 'government'.

Staticide, Not Civil War in Iraq

Calling the tragedy in Iraq a "civil war" is not only inaccurate. It is
morally indefensible, laying the blame for the horrific violence and the
destruction of a country and a society upon the victims of an illegal,
aggressive war. It allows pundits like Thomas Friedman to claim that the
country has been dysfunctional for a millenium, ignoring a long
historical context of international support for Iraq's brutal dictator,
debilitating and murderous sanctions by the United Nations, and a
catastrophic and unprovoked US-led invasion of a sovereign state. More
important, if Americans believe that Iraq is in "civil war," liberals
would argue that the United States must remain in order to prevent an
even worse outbreak of violence.

Shiite militias forcing Sunnis to abandon their Baghdad homes

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The displacement of Sunni Muslims from a Baghdad
neighborhood this weekend could tip a large portion of Baghdad to
control by Shiite militias, residents there and militiamen agreed
Sunday.

Since Saturday Sunni residents have been displaced or voluntarily left
the northwest Baghdad neighborhood of Hurriyah after police said three
Sunni families were killed. Those who fled voluntarily said they did it
because they did not trust the government forces to protect them. On
Sunday, they continued fleeing, moving into schools or strangers' homes,
the best immediate refuge they could find.

Shiite militiamen loyal to rebel cleric Muqtada al-Sadr openly admit to
entering their homes and forcing them to leave. That speaks to the
ongoing open battle for control of the capital and the apparent
domination by the Mahdi Army, Sadr's militia.

This is the daily life story in Iraq

On the 28th of August 2005, and after 10p.m. a combined force of
American forces and national guards launched a raid on my brother's
home; that force consisted of four American Humvees filled with American
soldiers and twelve truck loaded with Iraqi soldiers, more than 15
American and Iraqi persons entered the house in a terrifying and
irritating manner.

George Will: The problem with Iraq is that they're all savages

The narrative is intended to shift blame for the catastrophic sequence
of events in Iraq from the policy-makers who started it to the Iraqis
themselves. It's also simply wrong -- Iraq was a functional, modern and
secular society before the Iran-Iraq war, and at least a functional one
before the 2003 invasion. The chaos that followed resulted from choices
made by the administration, not some deep-seated dysfunction in Iraq's
culture.

Policy-makers in Washington made a choice to not only remove Saddam
Hussein and the senior officials loyal to him, but to dismantle that
functional state from top to bottom -- sacking the army, the police and
hundreds of thousands of bureaucrats who kept the country running.

It's Hard To Stop Lying When Your Name Is "Lyin' Colin Powell"

So Colin Powell was in Dubai last for something called the Leaders in
Dubai Business Forum:

[Powell] said that if the US had known at the time there were no weapons
of mass destruction 'it would have been a whole different equation' in
Iraq.

'If Saddam Hussein had come forward with a full and complete declaration
and he had not thrown the UN inspectors out, a war could have been
avoided.'

You'd think eight years after the UNSCOM inspectors were withdrawn with
the encouragement of the US, this particular lie might be showing signs
of age. You also might think Colin Powell would occasionally slip up and
tell the truth. But no, the Powell Lie Train keeps rolling along same as
always.

Taliban reject Pakistan, Afghanistan peace councils

The Taliban have rejected participation in a Pakistan-Afghan loya jirga
- or grand tribal council - being planned to check cross-border
infiltration and growing violence in Afghanistan, news reports said
Sunday. The Pakistan's private Geo TV channel quoted the Taliban
spokesman, Qari Mohammad Yousuf, as saying the Taliban did not consider
taking part in the grand council, as the Islamist movement never
involved itself in politics.

Translation: they know they're winning, and it does not appear that
there is anything the West can do to stop that.

Taliban will fight through the winter, warns British commander

The Taliban can attack Nato troops in southern Afghanistan whenever it
wants, despite months of intense fighting, British military commanders
have admitted.

Hopes that the onset of winter would bring with it the traditional break
in the fighting have been dashed by the Taliban's sudden return to the
attack, using a mixture of suicide bombings and a ferocious fire-fight
with British forces last week to turn up the heat on the coalition.

One has to ponder at the "magical thinking" which lead to idea that NATO
could possibly win a land war from the air..

The People's Right to Resistance

Final Statement of the International Conference in Support of
Resistance

In order to transform the historic victory achieved by the Lebanese
resistance against the Israeli aggression which targeted the Lebanese
population on the 12th of July 2006, into an incentive for
reinvigorating the struggle for comprehensive Arab liberation and to
direct it against the Zionist and Imperialist project and to consolidate
global solidarity with the resistance of the Arab people in addition to
their national resistance in Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq within the
framework of supporting the people's right to resistance, the
“International Conference in Support of the Resistance” was held in
Beirut from the 16th-19th of November 2006, in response to an invitation
from: Hizbullah, the Lebanese Communist Party, The People's Movement,
The National Unity Forum, and al-Leeqa'. Approximately 400
representatives from all over the world participated on behalf of tens
of political, trade-unionist, civil, anti-globalization, anti-war and
anti-imperialist movements that support the people's right to freedom
and progress.

Clues To How the NSA Spies on Americans and Possible Immunity for

It's not clear if what's being considered will be a total immunity
provision or a change to substitute the government for the telecoms in
all the 48 or so pending lawsuits against the telecoms. That change
would give the government the ability to assert not only the state
secrets privilege but also executive privilege and sovereign immunity,
which would be almost impossible for any plaintiff to overcome in court.

Christmas trees removed at Sea-Tac

is for kids," said passenger Lisa Jones.

The Port allowed "holiday" decorations to remain but decided to take
down all the Christmas trees after a Jewish religious leader complained
they were offensive.
