Ayaan Hirsi Ali- The self proclaimed apostate with dark secrets
Ayaan Hirsi Ali blames Islam for the miseries of the Muslim world.
Her new autobiography shows that life is too complex for that
SAY what you will about Ayaan Hirsi Ali, she fascinates. The
Dutch-Somali politician, who has lived under armed guard ever since a
fatwa was issued against her in 2004, is a chameleon of a woman. Just
11 years after she arrived in the Netherlands from Africa, she rode
into parliament on a wave of anti-immigrant sentiment, only to leave
again last year, this time for America, after an uproar over lies she
had told to obtain asylum.
Another, even more disturbing story concerns her sister Haweya's
sojourn in the Netherlands. In her earlier book, "The Caged Virgin",
which came out last year, Ms Hirsi Ali wrote that her sister came to
the Netherlands to avoid being "married off". In "Infidel", however,
she says Haweya came to recover from an illicit affair with a married
man that ended in abortion. Ms Hirsi Ali helped Haweya make up
another fabricated story that gained her refugee status, but the
Netherlands offered her little respite. After another affair and a
further abortion, Haweya was put into a psychiatric hospital. Back in
Nairobi, she died from a miscarriage brought on by an episode of
religious frenzy. "It was the worst news of my life," Ms Hirsi Ali writes.
Mental illness, abortion, failed marriages, illicit affairs and
differing interpretations of religion: much as she tries, the kind of
problems that Ms Hirsi Ali describes in "Infidel" are all too human
to be blamed entirely on Islam. Her book shows that her life, like
those of other Muslims, is more complex than many people in the West
may have realised. But the West's tendency to seek simplistic
explanations is a weakness that Ms Hirsi Ali also shows she has been
happy to exploit.

Muslim Imams sue U.S. Airways : anti-Muslim bias and Islamophobia
A group of six Muslim imams filed a lawsuit against U.S. Airways and
other defendants, arguing that they violated their civil rights by
removing them last November from a Phoenix-bound flight at
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
A new wave of discrimination, violation of civil rights and hatred of
Muslims has emerged in the United States following the September 11,
2001 attacks.
Unfortunately, anti-Muslim bias and Islamophobia have been
intensified by the Western media, which wrongfully links Muslims and
Islam with "terrorism" and "extremism", creating a false and
widespread misconception that Muslims are related to terror attacks.
Reports of discrimination against American Muslims, or those
perceived to be Muslims, reached a record high in 2005, according to
CAIR's 11th annual report: "The Struggle for Equality". The rights
group also processed a total of 1,972 civil rights complaints in 2005
alone -- almost 30% higher than the figures of 2004.

9/11 : True Confessions? The Amazing Tale of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed
The sweeping Guantanamo "confessions" of al Qaeda leader Khalid
Shaikh Mohammed rival the scope of those made in the Stalinist purge
trials of the 1930s, and should equally prompt us to question the
legal process in which they were made...

9/11 : The Confession Backfired
The first confession released by the Bush regime's Military
Tribunals--that of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed--has discredited the entire
process. Writing in Jurist, Northwestern University law professor
Anthony D'Amato likens Mohammed's confession to those that emerged in
Stalin's show trials of Bolshevik leaders in the 1930s.

9/11 : Probe of Al-Qaeda Leader's Handling Sought

Happy Anniversary Free Iraq!
This 18th of March, 2007 it will be the 4th anniversary of Iraq's
brutal occupation by American forces and also the 4th birthday of
'free Iraq'. The only things that have changed are the advanced
dates, the even more advanced brutality of the nature of occupation
and the addition of some gutless democrats to the cheerleaders on the
Capitol Hill. The bloodletting goes on as America continues to cling
to Iraq's throat like the bulldog named 'Cherokee' in Jack London's
'White fang'. And like him again, America inches its teeth ever
closer to that unfortunate nation's jugular with each spasmodic jerk
of the dying Iraq.
This 4th anniversary of Iraq's occupation, we will mourn the mangled
corpse of the Iraqi nationhood that America continues to drag around
the vast deserts of that country, with fangs bared and claws out, in
an unjustified, illegal and bloody occupation.
This 4th anniversary of Iraq's occupation, let us try to understand
for whom was the following said in the "Book of Isaiah" in The Bible?
"YOUR HANDS ARE STAINED WITH BLOOD, YOUR FINGERS WITH GUILT, YOUR
LIPS SPEAK FALSEHOOD AND YOUR TONGUE UTTERS DECEIT"
Happy anniversary free Iraq!

Mounting Civilian Deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq In the Name of
Improving People's Lives
Bush has lost his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The world condemns
the gulags operated by his secret agencies that are accountable to
the laws of neither man nor God. The peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan
dread and detest the foreign troops who occupy their country. The
lives of few on earth have been improved by America, and those are
mainly the already obscenely rich (the "haves and the have-mores", in
the words of the vulgar Bush). And the United States, that wonderful
country, is now regarded round the world as an aggressive barbaric
empire whose soldiers and pilots kill at will.
Last month President Putin summed up America's position by saying
that "Today we are witnessing an almost uncontained hyper-use of
military force in international relations ; force that is plunging
the world into an abyss of permanent conflicts . . . We are seeing a
greater and greater disdain for the basic principles of international
law. One country, the United States, has overstepped its national
borders in every way."
Washington's actions, said President Putin, "have caused new human
tragedies and created new centers of tension. Judge for yourselves :
wars as well as local and regional conflicts have not diminished. And
even more are dying than before. Many more."
But it's all in the cause of helping to improve people's lives.

A Breaking Story : Observations on Iraq
It's hard to describe the noise when a whole cabinet of crockery is
emptied on to the floor. Even harder not to shout in indignation when
the American soldier who intentionally tipped it forward, until the
plates and dishes slid smashing to the floor, says without regret,
"Whoops!" and crunches over the shards past the distraught owner.
"Cordon and search" they call looking for Sunni insurgents and their
arms and explosives. But at what cost to the battle for "hearts and minds"?

Declaration of Ward Boston, Jr.,Captain, JAGC, USN (Ret.), Counsel to
the U.S. Navy Court of Inquiry's investigation into the Israeli
attack on the USS Liberty
I know from personal conversations I had with Admiral Kidd that
President Lyndon Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara
ordered him to conclude that the attack was a case of "mistaken
identity" despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Admiral Kidd told me, after returning from Washington, D.C. that he
had been ordered to sit down with two civilians from either the White
House or the Defense Department, and rewrite portions of the court's findings.
Admiral Kidd also told me that he had been ordered to "put the lid"
on everything having to do with the attack on USS Liberty. We were
never to speak of it and we were to caution everyone else involved
that they could never speak of it again.
I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of that statement as I know
that the Court of Inquiry transcript that has been released to the
public is not the same one that I certified and sent off to Washington.
