6 p.m. My brother was on his way home from office. >From the
overhead bridge at the railway station, he saw a train coming on
to the platform. He hurried to catch it. But, in the rush hour,
the man in front came in his way, and he missed the train. He
boarded the next.
But he couldn't reach the destination station. He had to get
down at a station in between, as the train, he had missed, was
standing immobile on the same track, just ahead. The terrorists
had bombed one of its first class compartments!
My brother saw the poor hutment dwellers, around the station,
busy carrying the injured to nearby hospitals. They didn't mind
using blankets and bed-sheets, from their own poor huts, to
carry the injured; there were no stretchers available. And the
elite, in their fine clothes, watched the poor carry some of
their own fraternity from the bombed first class compartment of
the train ahead. And the elite just cursed. They cursed the
terrorists, the government and the railway authorities!
