INTRODUCTION
The economic development of the ISLAMIC countries is important to
ensure the economic stability of Islamic countries. Economics
problems faced by most developing countries have to be tackled to
avoid Muslim from being ignored. Currently Muslims funds were
estimated at about USD300 billion and would increase up to USD1
trillion by 2013. These funds consist of deposits in banks, funds in
bay'tulmal such as zakat, sadaqah and waqf. If these funds are used
efficiently, they could increase the socio-economics of a country
specifically and improve the economics of the ummah as overall
provided it is based on the shariah principles.

The seminar in Islamic Economics (iECONS) 2007 is thus another
earnest effort undertaken by the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat,
USIM to discuss the cooperation, opportunities and challenges in
order to obtain comprehensive balance development among ISLAMIC
countries.
