Help for wives of ISA detainees KUALA LUMPUR: A woman who has no proper documentation and whose husband is detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) could get help from the the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam).
Suhakam complaints and inquiries working group chairman Datuk Choo Siew Kioh said on Monday that the commission would, through its Sabah office, find out more about her situation. "We are looking at it from the human rights aspects, both for her and her one-year-old daughter," he said. Helping hand: Choo (right) and Abolish ISA Movement chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh with a copy of the memorandum that the movement had handed over to Suhakam on Monday. With them is Norlaila Othman, the wife of another ISA detainee Mat Sah Satray. The Abolish ISA movement handed over a memorandum yesterday on Noraini Abdul Hamid, the wife of ISA detainee Abdul Jamal Azahari. Abdul Jamal, 43, was detained last August in connection with the Darul Islamiah, a reported radical group. The memorandum also stated that she faced difficulty finding a job as she does not have proper documentation and had reportedly worked as a waitress in a nightclub in Sandakan
