Kurd: Ramallah authority delaying supply of foodstuff to Gaza [ 18/01/2009 - 10:32 AM ] http://www.palestine-info.co.uk/en/DataFiles/Cache/TempImgs/2009/1/images_Ne ws_2009_01_18_gaza-aid_300_0.jpg GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian government in Gaza has charged the Ramallah authority of detaining consignments of food assistance being shipped to the Gaza Strip in Israeli stores at Awja crossing for ten days. Ahmed Al-Kurd, the minister of social affairs, said that the food shipments donated by the Arab countries were collected and sent to the Rafah crossing but was transferred to the Awja crossing at the request of the PA authority in Ramallah where it has been held for ten days in Israeli stores. He said that during contacts with the Egyptian official, in charge with sending those aid shipments, he said that the medical assistances only are sent via Rafah terminal but the food supplies are supervised by the Ramallah government of Salam Fayyad and are sent to Awja crossing. The minister said that at least 50 tons of food supplies are being sent on daily basis to the Awja crossing to be delivered to Gaza but are being hindered access. He charged that the delay was a conspiracy being hatched by the Ramallah government and the Israeli occupation authority to pressure the Palestinian people and increase their suffering. Kurd threatened to expose all those involved in the plot. Meanwhile, the society of Palestinian doctors in Europe announced that it had sent a medical team to the Gaza Strip to share in treating the Palestinians wounded in the Israeli aggression. It explained that 15 specialized doctors form Germany, France, Denmark, Britain and Norway were sent to the Strip, and added that the formation of the delegation was in coordination with a number of European relief foundations topped by the IHH German. The three weeks of Israeli occupation forces' air, sea and ground attacks on the Strip had left more than 1200 people dead and more than 5300 others wounded many of whom are in very serious conditions.
