Memeranjatkan, buku kerja untuk pelajar Tingkatan 2 , yang dijual di Malaysia mengandungi ajaran yang menggalakkan para remaja untuk menggugurkan kandungan bayi (abortion) . Macamana buku macam ni boleh lulus dijual di Malaysia tanpa sebarang bantahan dari mana-mana pihak terutama Kementerian Pelajaran, Kementerian Dalam Negeri, Lembaga Penapisan, JAKIM dan Majlis Agama Islam Negeri? Dan buku ini juga bebas dijual di pasaran tanpa sebarang halangan.
Kalau dah galakkan kandungan bayi, gugur kandungan bukan satu dosa, maknanya zina dan seks bebas pun tak ada apa-apalah agaknya. Hmm , apa agaknya komen pejuang agama dan pejuang bangsa dalam isu ini? Mungkin isu ini , isu remeh temeh, isu hudud perlu dibincangkan di semua peringkat sekarang ini dari buruh kasar hinggalah ke Perdana Menteri. Making this call, state Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said the passage contradicted the basic values Malaysians believed in life. She said the sample writing was also against the government’s efforts in promoting respect between boys and girls. “It is wrong because THE PASSAGE SEEMS TO BE SAYING THAT ABORTION IS ACCEPTABLE. It is not. Abortion is about taking another individual’s life and this is equivalent to murder. In any religion, abortion is wrong. “THE STATE GOVERNMENT CAN’T BAN THE BOOK BECAUSE IT IS A FREE MARKET but schools and teachers have the authority not to buy and use the book. “If they have used the book and particular passage to teach, they should explain to their students that abortion is wrong,” said Fatimah yesterday. IN THE BOOK’S PASSAGE, IT SAID: “HER DAD TOOK HER TO THE CLINIC THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE HER ABORTION DONE” AND “THE ABORTION WENT LIKE CLOCKWORK AND WITHOUT ANY DIFFICULTIES AND MARY CAME OUT OF THE CLINIC AS HEALTHY AS BEFORE.” A concerned reader highlighted the passage to a local newspaper last Friday, saying the first sentence seemed to treat the tragedy of teenage pregnancy callously, sending a message to youth that the consequences of promiscuity could be easily dealt with.
