crime prevention patrols were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly robbing 
three Nepali workers at an industrial estate here.
 
The policemen who are in their 20's and 30's are constables, lance corporals 
and corporals.
 
It is learnt that the policemen who are members of the General Operations Force 
based in Kuantan were brought in as reinforcement for crime prevention in 
Selangor. 
 
On Saturday at about 4am, the policemen broke up into two groups before 
carrying out crime prevention patrols at the Sungai Tua industrial estate.
 
It is also learnt that a team of four policemen had approached a group of six 
Nepali workers who were returning home after work before demanding to see their 
passports.
 
Sources said one of the cops then searched the Nepalis before allegedly 
pocketing about RM300 he found on them and a handphone.
 
He also allegedly warned the Nepalis that he will return in a week and meet 
them outside their workplace for more money.
 
The following day, the workers who were accompanied by a senior staff member of 
the company they work for lodged a police report at the Rawang police station.
 
Following the report, a police team initiated investigations and raided a hotel 
in Selayang where the policemen were housed.
 
Yesterday, a policemen was remanded for a week to facilitate the probe into the 
case while his six collegues were released after interogations.
 
The six personnel were placed under the close supervision of their superiors 
pending disciplinary action.The case has been classified as robbery.
 
Selangor police CID chief SAC II Mohd Adnan Abdullah confirmed the case.
 
However, he declined to comment on it claiming he did not have full details of 
the case.

Seven cops held over robbery
 
RAWANG: Seven policemen, including five from the General Operations Force 
(GOF), were arrested for allegedly robbing a group of Nepalese migrant workers 
on Saturday.
The suspects were arrested in two separate raids at the Rawang police station 
and at a hotel in Gombak on Monday and the following day following a report 
lodged by the victims.
 
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Rahim Abdullah said the GOF officers 
and two policemen from the Rawang station were alleged to have been patrolling 
when they saw the group of Nepalese workers coming out of a factory in Jalan 
Arang, Rawang, at 4am.
 
"The policemen conducted a search on the victims.
 
"Simultaneously, one of the GOF officers also did a search and was alleged to 
have taken RM330 cash and a handphone from one of the victims.
 
"The GOF officer was also alleged to have pointed a gun at the head of one of 
the foreigners after the latter said that he did not do anything wrong," he 
said.
 
Rahim added, following the report, police had immediately instructed the 
victims to identify the suspects at the district police headquarters yesterday.
 
The victims identified a 32-year-old suspect, who is a member of the GOF 
Seventh Battalion based in Kuantan.
 
The suspect is being remanded for a week while the six others were released on 
police bail.
