Sack Hadi, NGOs tell Pas NST 15 February 2013 KUALA LUMPUR: SEVERAL non-governmental organisations (NGOs) yesterday urged Pas to sack its president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, for allegedly failing to uphold the sanctity of Islam. Protesting outside the Pas headquarters here, members of 11 NGOs also urged Pas to issue an official statement as to its real stand on the issue regarding the usage of the word "Allah" by non-Muslims. "First, he (Hadi Awang) said it was permissible for non-Muslims to also use the word, only to be decided at the Syura Council level later that such an act will not be tolerated. "So, what is Pas' actual stand over this issue?," Suara Anak Muda 1Malaysia Club president Armand Azha Abu Hanifah asked. He said to restore confidence among Muslims in the country that Pas was indeed championing Islam, the party should release an official statement over the matter. "It needs to clarify that Pas is not under pressure from DAP especially over the issue," Armand Azha added. Members of the NGOs also questioned the sacking of Nasharudin Mat Isa, a former Pas deputy president, from the party's Syura Council for allegedly accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on his recent humanitarian visit to Gaza. Wilayah Persekutuan Perkasa chairman, Sharifuddin Abdul Hamid, asked, "If he (Nasharudin) was sacked for such an offence, what about Hadi Awang who does not seem to be able to put his foot down over the issue on the usage of the word 'Allah' by non-Muslims? Isn't the latter a real reason to worry?" Pertubuhan Jaringan Cina Malaysia president Ng Lum Yong voiced dissatisfaction with the manner in which Pas has been handling the issue. "I may be a Buddhist but I truly understand the sensitivities voiced by the Muslims over the use of a word sacred to them by those not belonging to the same faith. "I came to this protest today to tell Pas that any religion should not be politicised for political mileage," he added. In Seremban, a group of Pas members from the state demanded that the party quit the Pakatan Rakyat alliance. They said the party should immediately leave Pakatan Rakyat or risk losing support and votes from members, especially from the younger generation. Pas Seremban member Mohd Abinaufal Mohd Sohaimi said DAP and PKR had not been respectful of the party on the issue. "The action by DAP national chairman Karpal Singh and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who constantly wanted the use of 'Allah' to be used by non-Muslims challenges the decision of Pas' Syura council on the matter." Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, when asked to comment on the issue, urged Pas to take steps to leave the alliance. "Pas members should not hold such a picket to show their anger to the public. They should just simply urge Nik Aziz (Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat) and Hadi Awang to get out (of the Pakatan coalition)." Tiga pasangan yang mewakili negeri Selangor ialah; Suhaimi Ahmad, seorang Eksekutif Jualan bersama pasangannya yang berumur 19 tahun, Nur Audi Wajihah Mohd Razi. Pasangan kedua ialah Zainol Roslan, 22 tahun akan berganding dengan Norazwin Sharifuddin, 20 tahun dan pasangan ketiga ialah Ibnu Farid Kamaruddin, berasal dari Klang, Selangor bersama pasangannya Siti Sarah Mohd Sharir, seorang perekabentuk dalaman.
