Dear Suhana and Andrew:
This morning you showed the fund raising
activities at a Hindu Temple (which collected 2000 dollars) and a Sikh temple,
but you did not show any similar activities which are going on at each and
every Muslim mosque in the entire country! By not giving publicity to
Muslims' altruistic activities, you are giving an impression to the CBC viewers
that Muslims are an uncaring faith group.
In Toronto, at one Mosque alone,
(International Muslims Organization of Toronto- IMO) during just one
prayer session (two Fridays ago), they collected 80,000.00 dollars! OMNI-2 TV in
its newscast last night showed another outpouring of sympathy and support
for the tsunami victims, from Muslims at the same
institution yesterday (Friday) and, the untiring efforts of its charismatic
Imam Sheikh Hamid Slimi.
I hope you will send your camera-persons to
Islamic institutions and capture some of the heart-warming scenes of Muslims
spontaneously reaching out to the victims of Tsunami.
Further, since this is the Month of Hajj,
the mosques are also collecting funds for the distribution of meat for the
needy. Each family will contribute funds to purchase one (two, three or
more) sheep, lambs or cows, which will be sacrificed (in commemoration of
Abraham's preparedness to sacrifice of his son, Ishmael) and the meat
distributed to the needy all over the world.
