Assalamu aleikum.

Innaa lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji'uun.

Most Pakistanis don't know that the Basant spring kite
festival originated as an anti-Islamic pagan hindoo
celebration dedicated to the deaths of those who
protected the name of Rasulullah (S.A.W.) from
defilement by kaffirs (see the first article below).

And it is unlikely that Pakistani national traitor
Musharraf or any of the "soft and liberal" Muslims
mentioned in the second article below would ever
inform them.

Just as Muslims should have nothing to do with
Valentine's Day, so Muslims should have nothing to do
with the pagan Basant spring kite festival of the
hindoos.

What is Basant?
http://basant.9k.com/

Do You Know...

"It is a function of Hindus which is observed in the
happiness of mass killings of Muslims by Sikhs".

>From the last few years "Moj Mela Mafia" developed
basant as a national festival for their own interests.

What is basant? Some information is below to tell you
the truth.

Basically "Basant" is a word of (Hindus language)
Sanskrit which means spring. When the autumn season is
passing away and canola flowers bloom, this is called
Basant Season. Because of this season yellow color id
called Basant color. For whom is this Basant Festival?

Spring season holds a significance in every society,
as nature shows its beauty in this season. Flowers
bloom up, crops are ready. The man of old time use to
be happy on this ocassion, he assumes that the
kindness of gods and goddess are behind this. So in
order to make them happy he performs their (man)
religious acts. Mushtaq Phulawaran a lover of basant
writes :-

Man started to praise the spring. In order to win its
heart he started to give gifts and precious presents.
He thought that in order to make some more near,
precious gifts should be given. The most precious gift
is human life. So in order to win heart of spring
goddess, people started to slaughter human beings (
still in India blood is given to Darga goddess) .

Spring goddess in Egypt is known as Isses, Ashar in
Iraq and Syria, Venice in Greece, Nahid in Iran,
Aserus in Rome,

Shesh in China, Darga in India and Zuhra in Arab (
narrated from " Is a basant only a Hindu festival " )

A famous Muslim writer Al-Beruni researching on the
beliefs, practices, prayers, special days and
festivals of Hindu religion writes:-

Basant is observed in Spring. From the calculations
(by stars) they know the time and observe it as
special day and feed Brahmans - the highest cast from
four hindu casts. (narratead from "Kitab Ul Hind " ).
>From these facts basant is purely a Hindu's festival.

>From the history of Hinduism that there was no
relation between kites and Basant. The kites were
taken as an important god and to it was thought to be
solution of many problems.

A supporter of Kites flying writes:-

It is believed that kite flying started from China and
Korea, introduced it in religious festivals therefore
Budhists, Chinese and Japanese people observed a day
as kite flying day. Every year in China 9th september
and 5th may in Japan is observed as kite flying day.

Kite flying in China, Japan and India is observed as a
public holiday and gathering of people. In temples and
religious places the religious elites use kites in
order to get rid of bad luck, disease and other kind
of bad things.

A news paper writes:-

The Greeks flies kites to get rid of deamons and
ghosts.

Mushtaq Phulwaran who is supporter of kite flying
writes:-

Some tribes sing songs for the kites. Kite is accepted
to be god. People prays to them and ask them for help
and it is also believed that in presence of kites
ghosts dont come near ( narrated from "Basant and
Kite" ).

The Hidden Truth:-

Basant and kites are part of two non-Islamic practice.
But how they got linked together? It`s background is
scornful for we Muslims. If we have a little support
for Islam then we`ll never go near to kites and
Basant.

Infact a Hindu "Hakeeat Raye Dharni" who used bad
words in the respect of Prophet of ALLAH, Hazrat
Muhammad (sal Allah aley wallihi wasalam) was hanged
on the day of basant as panelty. Sikhs at last took
the revenge by killing the Muslims brutually who were
involved in this. In the joy of revenge Hindu and
Sikhs flew kites on the "samadh" of Hakeekat Raye
Dharni. As he was hanged on basant day so Lahore which
was the centre of Sikh Government, Basant and kites
were thought to be important.

Readers now take a look at the facts below:-

Muhammad Hanif Qureshi in his essay "Festival of
Basant in the light of history and Religion" writes:-

It has been usually said that basant is a seasonal and
cultural fesitval which has no link with Religion and
nation. But still there are thousands of people who
will support this reality that before Independence
Basant was purely thought to be Hindu festival and was
observed in Lahore with full passion by Hindus and
Sikhs. Two, three pleaces where Basant festival used
to be held Hindu men and women come to "samadh" of
Hakeekat Raye Dharni and help their festival. Men wear
turbines of yellow colour and women wear yellow Sarhi.
Sikhs men and women used to arrange festivals in their
temples. Kites use to fly in inner Lahore (andaroon
Lahore). Muslim also take part in this festival but
dont wear yellow dresses. This all was observed in day
light. using of loudspeaker, fireworks and use of guns
was not there.

Writting about this festival of Sikhs, S.B.Bukhari a
Hindu writer, in his book "Punjab Under Later Mughals
writes:-

>From 1709 to 1759 the governor of Punjab was Zikria
Khan. In those days a non-Muslim "Hakeekat Raye Bahg
Mil Puri" used sling words for Prophet Hazrat Muhammad
(SAWS). Case went to court, the judge who was a Muslim
sentence him death penalty. So in the area of Gorray
Shah ( Sikh National College ground ), he was hanged.
It was 1734. Later on, the Sikh community took revenge
and killed brutually those Muslims who were involved
in it.

On page 259 of this book Dr. S.B.Bokhari writes " The
Basant festival in punjab is observed in the memory of
this".

Attah Ullah Siddique writes:-

Hindu gave Hakeekat Raye respect as a hero and start
basant festival in his memory. As Hakeekat`s Raye wife
was a Sikh that is why Sikhs were also sorry alongwith
Hindu. (narrated from monthly megazine " Mujahid feb
2001 ").

When Sikhs came to power in Punjab they start
observing Basant with full passion. Famous english
writter "Alevend

Breezer" who came to Lahore in the time of Mahraja
Rangeet Singh, writes about basant:-

>From Lahore to the place of festival Mahraja`s army
was standing on the two sides of road. At the place of
festival there was Mahraja`s royal tent on which there
were yellow coloured Sikh linies. Maharaja sat down
and heard song and gave gifts to the singer. Then he
wrapped the holy book in ten clothes and the cloth on
top was of yellow colour.

The former lecturer of Oriental College Lahore,
Arigiani Khizan Singh writes in emotion:-

Historians reach to the point that people remembers
our brother "Hakeekat Singh" as "Hakeekat Raye
Dharni". The relatives of Hakeekat`s mother were Sikh
who were hanged along with him at Nakhas Chowk. The
place in Lahore (shaheed gang) where he was hanged was
full of the screams of his wife and mother-in-law and
his father-in-law. Their screams and appeals couldn`t
mould the heart of authorities and he died in, 1803 on
the day of Basant, so on this day a big festival held
in his "samadh".

>From the research of Giani Khizan Singh "Hakeekat
Raye" was a Sikh not Hindu. In the above paragraph the
respect that is shown for Hakeekat Raye results in
saying that Hindus and Sikhs gave status of hero to
such a person who used bad words for the ever kindest
and most noble human, last Prophet of ALLAH, Hazrat
Muhammad (SAWS), same the status that Muslims gave to
" Ghazi Ilam-ud-din Shaheed ".

Dr. Sir Ghokal before the parition of India was a
minister in local government writes in his book " Mr.
Information of Sikhism" that :-

"... decision was given and immidiately in the centre
of Lahore in front of Hindu community a noble person`s
head has cut off. In his last ceremony poor and rich
all participated. His ash was dugged in soil 4km away
from Lahore, where his tomb is still standing. Basant
is observed every year in his rememberance".

The tomb of Hakeekat Raye at present is in Kot Khuwaja
Saeed Lahore. People remember it as "Babay Day Marhi".
Near Hindus a person who used bad words for Prophet
Hazrat Muhammad (SAWS) is a holy person. From above
facts, observing basant is same as to deny reality.

ALLAH may give us power and courage to stop and taking
part in this. Spread this message and forward it to
your friends.

Kites kill 20, mostly kids
sapa
February 7, 2005

Islamabad - At least 20 people were killed and nearly
200 injured overnight in the Pakistani city of Lahore
while celebrating the kite-flying Basant festival to
mark the arrival of spring, news reports and hospital
officials said on Monday.

The deaths, mainly of young children, were caused by
the use of metal-wire for kite-flying, aerial firing,
and people either falling from rooftops or killed in
road accidents while chasing kites.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shuakat Aziz, President
Pervez Musharraf and hundreds of thousands people,
including tourists and executives of multinational
companies, were in the capital of central Punjab
province for the day-long festival.

People flouted a ban on the use of metal wire and
aerial firing, which accounted for most of the
casualties.

One young girl, named Kashfa, was watching the kites
from the rooftop of her house when a twine slit her
throat resulting in her immediate death.

Muhammad Arif, 30, was electrocuted in the congested
Islampur area after he handled a metallic wire that
had touched an overhead power supply line.

Many were hit by vehicles while chasing kites as no
proper arrangements were made to keep children away
from busy roads.

Officials at the Lahore's main Mayo hospital said
besides the fatalities, nearly 100 people - mostly
children - were treated for various injuries. Other
city hospitals also confirmed a number of deaths and
injuries.

Many believe the festival, which includes music,
firecrackers and kite flying, receives a great deal of
public and private media attention because it helps
project a "soft and liberal" face of the country to
the world. - Sapa-dpa
