Remain morally upright, NGO prods Church Times of Zambia Monday, February 07, 2005 http://www.times.co.zm/news/viewnews.cgi?category=all&id=1107731163
The Church has been challenged to rid itself of instruments of evil that perpetuate immoral practices. A non-governmental organisation (NGO) dealing with displaced persons says the evil that has infiltrated the Church has contributed to the erosion of the moral fibre of society. Internally Displaced Persons Voice in Africa (IDP) executive director Joseph Chilengi has expressed disappointment that the Church had been turned into a haven of perpetrators of social and economic evils such as defilement, discrimination against women and robbery in society. Instead of the Church being a player of healing, it has been turned into a source of evil because we have seen more conflicts arising between churches and people, Mr Chilengi observed. He regretted that the Church had in some cases been turned into a source of conflicts within society, a situation that had resulted in the displacement of people from stable settlements. Meanwhile, Mr Chilengi pledged his organisations commitment to work with Government in promoting peace and stability that the nation continues to enjoy. Mr Chilengi said the IDP would remain a voice for the displaced people in Zambia and the continent and would not succumb to pressure arising from political mudslinging.Zana http://www.times.co.zm/news/viewnews.cgi?category=all&id=1107731163 __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
