Interesting thoughts. But can we have some exact reference from the Quran & the authentic hadeeths to support it. Then it will have more impact & convincing for the reader.

Assalamu alaikum,

Allah has prescribed punishments in Islam as a way of safeguarding piety and righeousnous.  If punishments were not carried out, there would be much corruption on this earth.  For those who repented it is an expiation and for those who did not it is a stern warning/punishment.

Adultery is one of the major crimes, it causes honour and lineage to be lost.  An adulterer is either married or single.
The punishment for a married person [male or female] who commits adultery is stoning to death.
The punishment of the single person [male or female] is one hundred lashes, and for the male, expulsion from the city for one year.

In order for the crime of adultery to be brought up against someone there should be either:
a- Four witnesses who saw the actual act of adultery
b- the admittion of the accused of the crime
c-In the case of a married couple, there could be Li'aan [cursing]. Where the husband swears four times that he saw his wife commit adultery, and the fifth one that the curse of Allah is upon him if he was a liar [since it is a major sin to accuse someone who is innocent, the man has to agree to have Allah's curse if he was lying].  The woman may defend herself by likewise giving four testimonies that her husband is lying and the fifth testimony that the wrath of Allah be upon her if her husband was truthful.
For more info, read suratul Nour in the Quran and its tafsir.

As for the case of the woman, if adultery was confirmed against her then since she was a married woman then her punishment is stoning to death.  As for her love, if he too was married, then he should have been stoned too.  If he were single, then the punishment of lashing 100 times was correct.

And Allah knows best.
