Assalaamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu

Dear Brother Saim,

I pray you and all my brothers and sisters reading this communique are well by the Grace of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta`aala.

What an alarming statement you've written as your subject title! If indeed you are certain that Sister Amina (of Bulgaria) was  deceived by the Shaytaan should you not have, as her Muslim brother in Allaah Almighty's Deen, without hestitation offered her good, kind and gentle counsel and guide her with correct knowledge? Instead, you, her Muslim brother, mocked and embarassed her publicly writing such horrid, beastly and untruthful accusations upon her person! - quote: "I assume you have all read the really fasle and stupid story by Amina Bulgaria. The only reason I am commenting about this false story is because Amina was once locked up in a mental asylum in Bulgaria (that is how she got the name Amina Bulgaria) - and "Stop telling such simple lies." - unquote. Did the Shaytaan get to you too? Wa a'oodhu billaahi minhum.

Mockery, sarcasm and debasing Muslims - it is evil enough for a Muslim to misuse his tongue or in writing, by indulging in mockery, sarcasm, debasing Muslims, scoffing etc. Mockery is to highlight someone's weaknesses and faults, in such a way that it is laughed at. This could either be by statement, or action. These and other related characteristics, like irony, taunting, scoffing, etc. are all abhored in Islam.

Allaah Subhaanhu wa Ta`aala says (interpretation of the meaning):

"O you who believe! Let not a group mock at another group, it may be that the latter is better than the former, nor let some women mock at other women, it maybe that the latter are better than the former.. " (Al-Hujuraat 43:11)

On what basis do you assume the right to information that she has been "locked up in a mental asylum?" and "that's how she got the name Amina Bulgaria?" Do you know Sister Amina's personal and private information to make such slanderous remarks about her? I don't think so. I do know her. Sister Amina is a Muslim convert and practices her Deen with tremendous strength in eemaan. Her Christian parents also embraced Islam because of her wonderful example as a God-fearing Muslimah and Amina, her Muslim husband and her parents performed Hajj together this year - Alhamdulillaah! Sister Amina and her family live in Copenhagen. She is studying for her under-grad degree at the University of Copenhagen.

Brother Saim, as a Muslim you should know well that Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta`aala has made the relationship of the Muslim to a Muslim more sacred than any relationship, even that of blood, culture or nation. He Ta`aala has united us into one Ummah, the Muslim Ummah, and has made us responsible for each other. Alhamdulillaah.

The Prophet Sall Allaahu `alayhi wa sallaam told us: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him. The piety is here, (and while saying so) he pointed towards his chest thrice. It is a serious evil for a Muslim that he should look down upon his brother Muslim. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother in faith; his blood, his wealth and his honour." (Saheeh Muslim Book 31, Number 6219).

From what I have read in your emails, "My name is Saim Bakar. I believe in Allah, the Rasul, the Malaaikah, the Kitab and the Last day (Surah 4:136). I believe in the true hadith of the Rasul which is the Quran and nothing but the Quran. All other hadith are false and NOT from the Rasul." I am aware of your aversion to Ahadeeth so this is the only one I have quoted to you to make my point what a Muslim is to each other. You know the Qur'aan so here are a few of Allaah Ta'aala's aayaat to remind you:
  • To be patient is far better: 16:126
  • To argue in a kindly manner:  16:125
  • To avoid becoming involved in matters you know nothing of: 17:36
  • To avoid guesswork about one another: 49:12
  • To be just in your opinions: 6:152
  • That conceit discouraged: 57:23
  • To not consider yourself pure: 53:32
  • To not deride others or speak ill of each other: 49:11, 104:1
  • To malign believers is sinful: 33:58
  • To be just towards other Muslims: 33:6
I did a search for the name of the author of this Burseesah story and found  the posting of "mktba Alsalafiyah" which referenced the author as being Dr. Umar Al Ashqar,

I then did a search on Dr. Umar Al Ashqar and found that he has written many articles pertaining mainly to Paradise, Hell and the Shaytaan in this website: http://www.islaam.com/Scholar.aspx?id=51  but I did not find the Burseesah story amongst them. From what I've read from his articles, it would appear he may have written the Burseesah article - and Allaah Ta'aala knows best. I will endeavour to search for confirmation, in shaa'Allaah and shall advice accordingly.

Now we can conclude that Sister Amina of Bulgaria did not write "The Story of Burseesah." I truly believe she liked the essence of the story and I also believe that due to her lack of knowledge on the subject of the Shaytaan, she in her enthusiam innocently forwarded it as part of her dawah endeavours - if she knew it contained errors she would not have forwarded it -and Allaah Ta'aala knows best.

Brother Saim, we can now also conclude that without proper and verifiable information you went out on a tangent and flagrantly slandered Sister Amina with your own lies of her being "locked up in a mental asylum in Bulgaria" - astaghfirullah, and for her to "Stop telling such simple lies." Accusing a Muslim of telling lies and making up false stories, are considered to be major sins in Islam, slander is a more heinous sin than backbiting, since it involves not only backbiting but also presuming with intent to dishonour a Muslimah's good name. This is not an attitude of a Muslim.

"Those who slander such of the Believers as give themselves freely to (deeds of) charity, as well as those who give according to their means, -- and throw ridicule on them -- Allah will throw back their ridicule on them: and they shall have a grievous chastisement." (At Taubah 9:79 - interpretation of the meaning)

Everyone who levels an accusation against another person must provide proof (interpretation of the meaning):

Say (O Muhammad), produce your proof if you are truthful (al-Baqarah 2:111)

Since they produce not witnesses, they are the liars in the sight of Allaah (al-Noor 24:13)

This problem is widespread among some of those who claim to be religiously-guided, may Allaah Ta'aala guide them, for they make accusations against people on grounds that are not regarded as something worthy of criticism in Sharee'ah or that do not undermine a person's religious commitment.

Then they do not bring proof of that, and they follow their own whims and desires, because it is human nature to appoint oneself, as judge, praising and condemning on a whim.

We must go against the whims and desires of our own selves and measure people by the criteria set out in Islam - we should make mention in the best of aadab of their good points and advise kindly and sincerely with regard to their mistakes.

In closing, none of us is perfect. We must recognise that we are imperfect creatures and be patient and just with each other and avoid fitnah seeking Allaah Ta'aala's Pleasure.  Let us not forget, while we are being patient with each other's faults that we have a special obligation of advising each other in the best Islamic manner, as Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala tells us (interpretation of the meaning):

Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patienc." (Al 'Asr 103:3)

There is no need for you to respond to my communique. If you feel you have to write, and may Allaah Ta'aala guide you, then please write an apology to Sister Amina, in shaa'Allaah, and uphold what Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta'aala has made, the relationship of the Muslim to a Muslim more sacred than any relationship. Alhamdulillaah.

Fi Amman Allaah,

K a r i m a

Subject: [amongbelievers] AMINA BULGARIA DECEIVED BY THE SHAYTAAN - BEWARE !

Salam all,

I assume you have all read the really fasle and stupid story by Amina Bulgaria.

The only reason I am commenting about this false story is because Amina was once locked up in a mental asylum in Bulgaria (that is how she got the name Amina Bulgaria).

Let me just repeat a tiny fraction of this falsehood and then tell you why it is false.

The Story of Burseesah

For the first time during this whole incident, Shaytaan appeared before Burseesah and said to him, "Oh Burseesah! Listen! Look at me! I was the one who was whispering to you since this whole thing started! I am Shaytaan!"

Amina Bulgaria, who not only does not know what is inside the Quran but totally rejects the Quran, does not know the following verse from the Quran :

[7.27] O children of Adam! let not the Shaitan cause you to fall into affliction as he expelled your parents from the garden, pulling off from them both their clothing that he might show them their evil inclinations, he surely can see you, he as well as his friends, from a placewhere you cannot see them; surely We have made the Shaitans to be the guardians of those who do not believe.

Burseesah could not have seen the Shaytaan and neither could the Shaytaan have appeared in front of Burseesah.  Amina since you like telling such false and silly stories, beware Allah has said :

"surely We have made the Shaitans to be the guardians of those who do not believe".

Stop telling such simple lies.

Saim.

(Holy Quran-16:125)

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)  also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
