Website
We are undertaking major renovations to our website. We have a new design, and are working on transfering to a new and larger server. Our hope is that within the next week or two, the new site should be up and running if Allah wills. The new server should enable us to offer some of the audio files from recent programs which we have attended. We are also working on some interactive flash presentations for some materials which will be helpful for students if Allah wills. We are nearly finished the Book of Taharah from Imam ash-Shawkani's Durar al-Bahiyah. This interactive flash presentation will contain the vowelized Arabic text, followed by a basic translation, with footnotes indicating
one of the proofs which the author used for the issue in his commentary on the title. The texts in the footnotes are also vowelized with translation. Our goal is to complete through the chapters on Hajj and `Umrah on line, in efforts to make it easy for students to memorize the text as well as proofs for it. Additionally, the flash presentation should have an audio recitation of the text.
Other installments from our ongoing series should begin to appear soon as well. Among these are the series on Tafsir, the Abdridgement of at-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb by Ibn Hajar, the Abridgement of at-Tawbeekh wat-Tanbeeh by Abu ash-Shaykh, as well as some additional Arabic articles and Risalahs.
On-Line Shopping
Our new website design should soon include an image of all of the titles available. Most of the English titles have been scanned, if Allah wills, during the coming weeks we
will complete those, as well as the Arabic titles, and the other languages as well.
Customers are recommended to e-mail ahead for on-line orders, to assure the item is in stock first, then after verification of the items requested, one may order through the on-line system via paypal if that is preferred.
Bookstore/Da`wah Center
We have recently undergone some minor renovations/upgrades to our store, adding some shelving and rearranging some of the materials. Within the past few months, a new majid was opened directly accross the street from the store.
We have reached the point where it has become necessary to hire someone to work in the bookstore. We need to raise a one year salary for the bookstore employee in advance. We do not want to hire him officially until we are sure that we can pay him.
Dar al-Kitab wal-Hikmah is a registered non-profit
organization. All donations are tax deductable. The EIN number is available for those who request it when making donations. Currently, donations may be made on-line under the section "About Us" by using the donation via paypal button. One may also send a check or money order to our address below, made out to DKH.
We have agree to hire brother Yusuf Stewart, whom many of you may know, to run the bookstore, we have also agreed to pay him $18,000 per year.
If there is anyone who would like to assist us in that, please indicate that the donation is for the bookstore worker.
Publishing
As most of you may know, we have recently recieved our two newest titles: "Al-Isbal" and "The Erroneous and Invalid...Mawlid"
We printed 5,000 copies of each of these titles. Our cost for "Al-Isbal" was $880, our cost for "Mawlid" was $1,050. To our knowledge, this is the
first book on the "Mawlid" which has been printed in the English language.
"Al-Isbal" is available at $3.50 per copy, "Mawlid" is $4.00 per copy, and each are available at %50 off for distributors, bookstores, and all booksellers who purchase 10 or more copies.
We also still have "Saying Salah upon the Prophet (Sall Allahu `alaihi wa sallam)" @ $4.00 each, and the same discount for wholesale. To our knowledge, this is the first book ever printed in English on the topic.
Our total bill for the recent printing of the first two above mentioned title is $1930. If you would like to contribute to such efforts, please indicate "publishing" when donating.
Free Da`wah Literature
As we are a non-profit da`wah organization, one of our most important goals is to develop useful da`wah tools, foremost among which are da`wah literature.
In our recent
shipment, we recieved 5,000 copies of "The Pillars in the Religion of Islam" which was previously printed numerous times by al-Qur'an was-Sunnah Society of North America, authored by Abu Khaliyl. ($865)
We also printed 4,800 copies of "Los Pilares Delafe" a Spanish translation of the above mentioned title. ($750)
We also printed 8000 copies of the tri-fold pamphlet "Sermons of Wisdom" written by Tony Salvatore Sylvester (who is Abu Khaliyl). ($500)
We also printed 8000 copies of the tri-fold pamplet "Un Vistazo Al Islam" a Spanish introduction to Islam. ($500)
These da`wah materials are free for those involved in da`wah work, we currently have some shipments prepared to ship to various locations. Some of the locations are in other countries.
New Arabic Books
In our recent shipment, we also recieved a large quantity of Arabic titles, the
Arabic section of our catalog has more than doubled now. Catalogs are available upon request, and you may see the new Arabic titles on the front page of our website www.dkh-islam.com
Our total bill due to Beirut for printing, books ordered, and shipping is $15,000. We had approximately $3000 credit with them, making the total due closer to $12,000.
Here is a general break-down of the prices:

We have received about $2,700 in donations in advance of the shipment, from collected by two individuals, may Allah reward them multiple rewards.
