Asalamualikum,

  I am so happy for this area of Chicago to have a proper way to teach the Muslim children and young adults.  This should be a good example for any city to see and try to accomplish for the Muslims.  I am in Louisiana, where it is predominately Catholic.

  While reading what you wrote, I could not help but think of a solution to the vast "ignorance" about Islam from others who go to church or the synagogue, and still have hate for someone because they are "afraid" of them since 911.

  I would like to make two points.  First one is that the religious leaders who "preach" to these people that hate the Muslims, need to be educated in the truth about Islam.  The leaders of the non-Muslim world need to learn that Islam is not bad, but all good and Allah fearing, thus so much respect is towards Allah.  If the American leaders, such as teachers, preachers, doctors, lawyers, all knew about the beautiful life of Islam, they could spread this knowledge accurately about the differences. Then there might not be so much "ignorant hate" of the precious Muslims.

  My second point is that, because I was not Muslim over a year ago, I had a fear of the Muslims, because of 911.  I continued to eat at the restaurants that they owned, and watched them carefully.  In the time that I spent going there daily or nightly for dinner, I noticed how they treated each other, and that they were serious about their faith.  They did not drink alcohol, when I was sipping my wine.  They did not condone me, but rather set a good example of their strong faith in what the Qur'an said not to do.  So my observation of their behavior opened a door for me into a world of searching for understanding them, instead of being afraid of them, because of 911.

  Allah so graciously allowed me to read and learn and soak in information about Islam like a sponge.  I searched on Ebay for books, CD's, dvd's, etc., under the Islam search or Muslim search.  I then found the hijabs, and ordered them.

  Educating anyone who does not know about Islam, is the best thing that can help all Americans understand that the Muslims are more precious than most of the hypocritical churchgoing people.....who do not cover themselves, even when it says to cover one's head in the old testament of the book.

  All people need to know is that the Muslims are living their lives to see, hear, and live for Allah, the God of Abraham, the one God.

  I hope and pray to help be a bridge for understanding of those whom I was once like.  A thousand miles begins with a single step.  InshaAllah.

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}
(Holy Quran-16:125)

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)  also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
