US Muslim group calls for end to terror 'madness'37 minutes ago
A US Muslim leader told Islamic radicals to, "for the love of God", halt suicide bomb attacks, at the launch a new bid to purge Islam of the taint of terrorism.
"Let me say to the terrorists very clearly, that you will have no comfort in our community. Our community offers you no harbor," said Mahdi Bray, executive director of the Muslim American Society (MAS) Freedom Foundation.
"Our message is clear, you do no service to Islam, you do a great disservice to Islam and for the love of God, stop this madness," Bray said.
MAS said it was moved to renew its condemnation of militant attacks following last week's bomb attacks in London, on the heels of the July 7 strikes in which four suicide bombers killed themselves and 52 other people.
The group said it would intensify efforts to educate Muslims about "evil acts" of terrorism through its US network of religious schools, scout troops, and youth centers as well as in mosques.
Esam Omeish, president of MAS, pledged to "do whatever it takes to leave no chance for terrorists and their views to creep into our community."
He said MAS would convene a national summit on combating terrorism, uniting major US Muslim organisations and national Muslim leaders, and would also work to "demystify" Islam and Muslims for other Americans.
Omeish said legitimate grievances should be addressed, but warned there could be no excuse for the "senseless killing of innocent people in New York, Madrid, London, Baghdad, Casablanca and Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt."
The London attacks, and the fact that they were carried off by suicide attackers born and bred in Britain has led to increased scrutiny from the US Muslim community.
One group, the Council of American Islamic Relations, this month urged television stations to show its public service announcement, in which Muslim speakers argue that terror attacks defile their peaceful religion.
Some American Muslim leaders have complained that their frequent denunciations of terrorism had not filtered through to the US public.

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}
(Holy Quran-16:125)
{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
