RCN:  328158    Tuesday 26th July 2005 PRESS RELEASE Islamic charity donates £300,000 to London Bombings Relief fund   Presentation to the Mayor of London at 3.00pm today at City Hall Islamic Relief, Europe’s largest Islamic charity is donating £300,000 to the London Bombings Relief Charity Fund, which has been set up by the Mayor of London and the British Red Cross following the recent bomb attacks in London. Islamic Relief’s UK Manager, Mr. Waseem Yaqub said: “Each one of us has been touched by the recent events in different ways. Many people we spoke to wanted to do something to help the victims and to prevent this tragedy from turning into a disaster. At this crucial time it is important to recognize the Muslim community’s positive contribution to our country. We strongly feel an integral part of British society and the attacks on our capital have only strengthened our bond with the rest of society against acts of mass murder”. Muslims in Britain raise millions every year for charitable causes all over the world and Islamic Relief, which was founded in Birmingham in 1984, manages a significant part of it. Mr. Yaqub will be meeting the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, on Tuesday, 26th July at 3.00 pm at City Hall to donate £300,000 on behalf of the Muslim community.
