--- Islamic Relief Initiates Urgent Appeal for Victims of Hurricane Katrina Disaster Responding to the worst storm in the southern United States in thirty years, Islamic Relief has initiated an appeal to help the victims of the floods caused by Hurricane Katrina. Katrina has thus far destroyed everything in its path, slamming into the Gulf Coast just outside New Orleans, Louisiana, on Monday, submerging entire neighborhoods up to their roofs, and blowing out windows in hospitals, hotels and high-rises. Three states in all are affected by this disaster. Islamic Relief is assessing the needs on the ground, and is committed to aiding the victims of this tragedy.
