2) A man can only wear a silver ring, provided it does not exceed 4 mashas of silver. please convert mashas to grams. 3) Can an unmarried female who observes pardah, wear lipstick?

1. Hadhrat Abu Moosa al-Ashari (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, Gold and silk have been made permissible for the females of my Ummat and have been made impermissible for the males. (Mishkaat pg.375; HM Saeed). Hence, it is not permissible for men to wear pure gold watches, etc.
2. A man can wear a silver ring that fulfils the following 2 conditions; a) It is pure silver or pure silver plated, or b) It is lesser than 5 masas which is equal to 4.86 grams. (Ahsanul Fataawa vol.8 pg.68)
3. Lipsticks is generally a means of beautifying oneseld and adornment. Hence, it may be used only under strict conditions of non-exposure to any non-Mahram relatives whatsoever and strictly within the confines of ones home only. One should also exercise great caution in ensuring that no Haraam ingredient is found in the lipstick.
