In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Fiqh Council announces that Eid Ul-Adha will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2006.
First day of Dhul Hijjah 1426 is Sunday, January 1, 2006 and so the Idul Adha will be In ShaaAllah on Tuesday, January 10, 2006. The Fiqh Council of North America has made this decision based on
its criteria to determine the day of Eid Ul-Adha in solidarity with the Hujjaj who will have the Day of Arafah this year on January 9, 2006. We pray to Allah subhanahu wa taala to bless us all and to accept the devotion of millions of Muslims who are gathered in Makkah for Hajj. Ameen.
Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, Chairman
Fiqh Council of North America
Comments: If we read in between the lines, above says that the decision is based on Hajj in Saudi Arabia and not moon sighting in US. We talk about Word Solidarity, and we seek it. This is a living proof of it, and Inshallah we will live with it. May Allah swt unite us...... Ameeen.... Fasting on the Monday Jan 9th (Day of Arafah) has lots of rewards!

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}
(Holy Quran-16:125)
{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
