Dear Mr. Miller
I am shocked by your decision to join the Walk with Israel on May 28th 2006. I am struggling to understand the motivation behind this decision.
Israel is a foreign country that does not have any special standing with the Torontonians at large. So, why do you have to celebrate with it?
Israel is setting a worst example with its open apartheid practice against the Palestinians (this has been condemned repeatedly by world renowned peace
activists such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and academician such as Uri Davis). So, why do you have to rejoice about it?
Israel is NOT in danger as its supporters would like to make us believe. In fact it is the region's superpower! It could roll up the West Bank in 36 hours according to Shoshana Bryen, an analyst for the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, a
think tank in Washington. So, why do you have to defend it?
Not all the Jewish population in Toronto supports Israel because they see it as the aggressor in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. So, why do you have to support it?
Mr. Mayor: referring to some of your visions of Toronto, I just wonder:
What does your decision to support Israel have to do with ensuring Torontos place in the world? What does it have to do with supporting the diversity of people in Toronto?

Mr. Mayor, I do not see that your decision to support Israel is fitting within the mandate of your office or your vision to make Toronto a great city. I do not
see it appropriate that you Walk with Israel as the Mayor of the city. This is an obvious bias which creates more friction than harmony among Torontonians.
Finally, if you still think that supporting Israel is the right thing to do, and if you want to keep your promise (as you usually do) to stay closer to your people, would you then be kind enough to accept an invitation, if issued in the future, to join a Walk
with the Palestinians, which a group of Arabs are contemplating at this time?
