In a video tape posted on the internet, Al- Qaeda's second in command Aymen
al-Zawahiri has praised what he called the jihadists in Somalia. He said they
are on the righteous path which leads them to paradise.
He said the Islamic fighters in Somalia are in holy struggle with foreign
occupiers, offering an individual praise to the leader of the ousted Islamic
Courts Union, Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed.

Al-Zawahiri said Sheik Ahmed is in the hands of an enemy.

To verify the authenticity of the tape, the American Institute of SAID
which keeps up with the movement of al-Qaeda network curtained the voice of the
tape was al-Qaeda's second in-command
Leaders of the Islamic movement have vowed to launch an Iraq-style guerrilla
war in Somalia, and Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri has
called on Islamist hardliners to carry out suicide attacks on the Ethiopian
troops.
Somalia has had no affective central administration since 1991 when warlords
toppled former president Siad Barre.
