*Interview: Imran Khan, Politician*
'I was called arrogant when I played... I put it down to shyness'
*The former captain of the Pakistan cricket team is a member of the
country's parliament and leader of the Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for
Justice) party. He will feature in 'Revealed' on CNN, on Saturday at 6.30pm*

*If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...*

Having my dinner. Alone. I don't have a standard day or evening. Every day
is different.

*I wish people would take more notice of...*

The injustice which is happening to other people not just in their own
country.

*The most surprising thing that happened to me...*

Was when I first came to England when I was 18. It was the biggest change in
my life. The two things that were completely different culturally were the
welfare state and rule of law.

*A common misperception of me is...*

That when I was playing cricket for some reason I was called arrogant. I
think it was shyness because arrogance is the worst quality in any human
being.

*I am a politician and...*

If my party were elected, I would establish an independent judicial system
and create a welfare state. The poor subsidise the rich through indirect
taxation. Basically the powerful and rich don't pay taxes.

*I'm good at...*

Perseverance

*I'm very bad at...*

Not trusting.

*The ideal night out is...*

It changes through different stages in life. But from where I am in
Islamabad there's a hill station two hours away in the foothills of the
Himalayas perfect for dinner outdoors with a few friends.

*In moments of weakness I...*

Pray. Each time you pray you cut off from the present and concentrate on the
eternal and get perspective.

*In another life I would have been...*

A farmer. My parents came from farming families. They came from Afghanistan
and settled three or four generations ago. Their tribes were different, with
different histories. I always loved wilderness. I was always an outdoors
type.

*In a nutshell, my philosophy is...*

It doesn't matter whether you reach it, so long as you pursue your passion.

* The poor always curse the rich but harbour the desire to become so
themselves and if they become rich they also begin to have the poor. If is
unfortunate that the rich also hate the poor, which they can someday become
themselves.
