Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wet nurse of Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace of and blessings of Allah upon him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (saw). You give glad tidings to the men and you do not give tidings to the women." He said, "Did your female companions put you up to this?" She said, "Yes." The Prophet (saw) said: Does it not please one of you that if she is pregnant by her husband and he is pleased with her, that she will have the reward equal to one who fasts during the day and prays Qiyaam (tahajjud) at night for the sake of Allah. When her labor pains (contractions) start, no one in heaven or on earth knows what is concealed in her womb nor the delights (and pleasures) that await her. When she gives birth, not one drop of milk flows from her nor a (child's) suck, except that she will have the reward of 1 hasanah (good deed) for every drop and with every suck. If the baby keeps her awake at night, she will have the reward of freeing 70 slaves for the sake of Allah. O Salaamah, do you know who these women are? They are the chaste and righteous women who are obedient to their husbands and not ungrateful towards them.
