The last time I looked at VNC it was so slow that it was unuseable and that
was only between two NT systems on their own 100Mb hub. The hardware and
networking performance was fast and solid so I know that wasn't the problem.
I got to asking around and I can't say much about going between platforms
but everyone I spoke with that used it from one NT system to another had the
same bad experience. It is free but IMHO you pay in other (productivity)
ways. Unless they have made vast improvements in performance since last
spring, then I would look at doing something else.

One of the better solutions is Citrix MetaFrame (on top of WTS). It is does
cost some money but it is feature rich and has the ability to strongly
encrypt multiple user sessions. It can also be used from a browser via java
applet, activeX control, or netscape plugin. It's stable and performs very
well without much bandwidth.
