I sent the original message to a friend, who did in fact find many of the
listed .dll's and also the following registry entry:

(Does anyone know what this specific registry node means/is used for?)

Yo Netsurfer,

I did a regedit search putting "adimage.dll, advert.dll, advpack.dll,
amcis.dll, amcis2.dll, amcompat.tlb, amstream.dll, anadsc.ocx, anadscb.ocx,
htmdeng.exe, ipcclient.dll, msipcsv.exe, tfde.dll" in the search box and it
found all the files in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer
Bars\{C4EE31F3-4768-11D2-BE5C-00A0C9A83DA1}\FilesNamedMRU

..it looked like this:

Name Type Data

[ab][Default] REG_SZ [value not set]
[ab]000 REG_SZ adimage.dll, advert.dll, advpack.dll, amcis.dll,
amcis2.dll, amcompat.tlb, amstream.dll, anadsc.ocx, anadscb.ocx,
htmdeng.exe, ipcclient.dll, msipcsv.exe, tfde.dll
[ab]001 REG_SZ amcompat.tlb
[ab]002 REG_SZ amstream.dll

[ab]004 REG_SZ advert.dll
[ab]005 REG_SZ tfde.dll
[ab]006 REG_SZ msipcsv.exe
[ab]007 REG_SZ ipcclient.dll
[ab]008 REG_SZ htmdeng.exe
[ab]009 REG_SZ anadscb.ocx
[ab]010 REG_SZ anadsc.ocx
[ab]011 REG_SZ amcis2.dll
[ab]012 REG_SZ amcis.dll
[ab]013 REG_SZ advpack.dll
[ab]014 REG_SZ adimage.dll
[ab]015 REG_SZ data1.msi
[ab]016 REG_SZ HP
[ab]017 REG_SZ HPRecp11.sys

..the same search on my machine finds only advpack.dll and amstream.dll the
