Eduardo,

It may not appear that you have a problem currently, but receiving the
IPDuplicate message can mean a variety of things that could be happenning
on your organization's network.
1. If you are running DHCP, your DHCP pool can be over subscribed and can
be re-assigning addresses that are currently being used.
2. An individual from either outside or inside your organization has a
badly configured workstation and statically assigned an IP address to that
particular workstation. If the person is outside, it could be a potential
intrusion, but if it was, look for other symptoms that a would be
potentially dangerous person has infiltrated your organization's network
or someone else on the outside has a badly configured workstation.
3. Double check with the person who setup DHCP or is in charge of IP
network numbering. A duplicate workstation may have been setup by
accident
4. Don't filter out repeating messages until you have investigated all the
possibilities of why a particular alert is being generated. Once you have
investigated the alert being generated, I mean investigated as in, ensure
that all the periphery machines that may maintain your DHCP or IP static
mappings are correct and up to date, and make sure there are no rogue
system administrators doling IP address space.

Hope this helps

/mark
