Internet Scanner version 6.1 is now available from the ISS download center.
This release provides significant new features, and ISS advises all Internet
Scanner customers to upgrade as soon as possible.

Highlights of the release include:

ActiveAlert (TM)

Internet Scanner 6.1 now includes the ability to report
vulnerabilities discovered in real-time, via messages sent to a
co-resident RealSecure OS Sensor. This allows important security
issues (like the discovery of DDoS Zombie programs) to be
alarmed to a console for immediate attention. Essentially, this
lets Internet Scanner act as a RealSecure sensor.

Perimeter Router Check

The new Perimeter Router vulnerability check locates the perimeter
of an organization's network, by finding routers that connect into
or out of the organization. Each of these perimeter points should
  have increased protection.

Windows 2000 Support

Internet Scanner 6.1 now runs on Windows 2000 Professional with
full functionality. Internet Scanner 6.1 also provides many new
  Windows 2000-specific security checks.

Additional Database Scanner Integration

Internet Scanner 6.1 now includes new vulnerability checks that
will help the Database Scanner 4.0 Penetration Test mode execute
more effectively. In addition, Internet Scanner now allows the
Internet Scanner user to execute Database Scanner in "penetration test
mode". Penetration test mode uses information gathered by Internet
Scanner and default account information to attempt a brute force attack
that will allow access to the database, even if the operator does
not know the database administrator password.

New Vulnerability Checks

Internet Scanner 6.1 includes 12 new vulnerability checks,
including 10 vulnerability checks for Windows 2000 vulnerabilities.

There is much more in the release, including enhanced Operating System
identification, enhanced command-line control for report generation, and
full support for the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) security
standard. Please refer to the readme.txt file or the "What's New" section
of the documentation for more information.

There is a new ISS Web page that details the release history of each X-Press
Update. This Web page shows the latest available X-Press Updates and can be
