Internet Security Systems' RealSecure Desktop Protector 3.5 application is now available for download at the ISS website at http://www.iss.net/download. Desktop Protector provides powerful firewall, intrusion protection and application control for remote or mobile PCs within the RealSecure ICEcap Manager command environment. Unobtrusive and easy to use, Desktop Protector automatically blocks improper activity, and passes critical security information to the central management console for further analysis. ISS' X-Force Professional Security Services provides design, deployment and implementation services for Desktop Protector, as well as a newly added Desktop Protector 3.5 course from ISS' X-Force Education Services. This release includes: RealSecure Desktop Protector 3.5 * Windows 98/ME * Windows NT 4 Workstation or Server (SP4, SP5, SP6, SP6a) * Windows 2000 (SP1, SP2) * Windows XP Pro, Home RealSecure ICEcap� Manager 3.5 * Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack (SP4, SP5, SP6, SP6a) * Windows 2000 (SP1, SP2) Features and benefits include: * Active Blocking - Desktop Protector secures corporate users both at and away from the office through extensive application protection, protocol analysis based intrusion protection, and firewall services. It protects these remote end points from proliferating hybrid threats and unwanted connections. * Ease of Deployment - Centrally manage configuration and updating of all remote users with the RealSecure ICEcap Manager application, including "silent" installs and automatic synchronization and configuration when remote systems come on-line. Centralized event reporting in RealSecure SiteProtector integrates events for seamless management of the RealSecure protection platform. * Application Control - With the number of potential back doors and Trojans corporate users are receiving in emails and downloading off the Internet, the level of risk to the corporation is significant. Important Notes: * Effective December 2002, support for the Microsoft Windows 95 OS platform for Desktop Protector will be discontinued. * Effective August 1, 2002, Internet Security Systems will not support the 1.x and 2.x versions of ICEcap Manager and BlackICE Agent for Workstations. Technical Support will continue to provide technical assistance and make reasonable efforts to provide workarounds for problems with 1.x and 2.x versions until August 1, 2002. Customers are advised to upgrade their software to a 3.x version. * The upgrade from version 2.x of ICEcap Manager to 3.0 involves database schema changes and may affect custom applications that rely on the 2.x database schema. To upgrade your ICEcap Manager software to 3.5, you must first upgrade to 3.0, and then upgrade to 3.5.
