I am currently using RealSecure v.6.5 for my IDS with MSDE and SQL 2000 for the database portions of my architecture. My question relates to performing analysis and the reporting capabilities of RS. I have used the built-in reports for RS before and have been happy with them but I find the new version of RealSecure does not satisfy my requirements. I know I need Crystal Reports if I want to create custom reports. Could someone share their experience with tools they use for reports or methods they use to do their analysis keeping in mind that I am an SQL newbie (ie pretty green) and so running a bunch of SQL queries is an option but hopefully one further down my alternatives list. Is Crystal Reports the way to go and then I could just open the ODBC source and add whatever tables and information I want, is there some other handy software or plugin to use, or should I just grin and bear it and learn SQL to run my reports and queries for analysis and investigation?
