How was the gateway's traffic load at the time? Maybe it was floaded and the sensor simply could not connect at all until 8 hours later. I also hate to ask the obvious but will just incase, could the delay be the difference in time zones? GMT on one and local on the other? As much as I'm used to considering GMT, I do sometimes find myself forgetting about the differences between different logging systems.
