ISS have already done this in another way,

Use either the new Site Protector setup or the nearly defunct Safesuite
Decisions Setup

I am using the Site Protector approach. I am lead to believe that the
SSD reporting function is to be added to SP in the next realease.

Has anyone tried creating an ODBC connection to an SQL
server, then get the scanner to record data to it?

I copied my scan6db.mdb file to my SQL server and
imported it into a new database.

(note - my remote connection to this SQL server is
tunneled through SSH).

I then set up an ODBC connection on my scanning system
to the SQL server.

Next, I went to the Tools/Database Administration
dialog and selected "New DSN...", which asks to
connect to an existing ODBC data source or create a
new one. Since I already created one, I selected
"existing", then "Next>" -- then, I'm presented with a
list of data sources -- but the only sources listed
are those using a Microsoft Access driver.

Since this didn't appear to be what I needed -- I went
back and selected "create a new ODBC data source" -- I
told it the name of the ODBC source I had already
created, gave it the user name and password, then hit
"Next>" -- the next windows says "You have
choosen(sic) to create a new data source named
ISS_Scanner_DB using the Access ODBC driver.
<blah><blah>"

Is the scanner software limited to using Access
drivers only?

Any way to accomplish what I want?

If so, what is the impact on the network during a
scan? I don't see it being a big issue, but I don't
want to bombard my segment of the network with tons of
data between my scanning system and the db server.

-Tim
