It means that the ability of RealSecure Network Sensor 7.0 to recognize attacks is not
reduced when your network equipment encapsulates packets with VLAN headers.

This in no way implies that RealSecure is plugged into the backplane of the switch. It
simply says that our customers can monitor traffic between network switches even when
they have enabled VLAN support in their switches.

Please advise what on earth "supports VLAN (802.1q) to the extent that
it recognizes packets with VLAN headers and correctly identifies and
parses any IP payload after the VLAN header."actually means in practical
deployment terms.

Absolutely no-where in ISS literature is this explained.

Are you suggesting that the sensor is plugged into the backplane of the
switch?

RS 7.0 supports VLAN (802.1q) to the extent that it recognizes packets
with VLAN headers and correctly identifies and parses any IP payload
after the VLAN header.

Currently, RS 7.0 does not report the VLAN tag or priority for any
traffic that triggers an event. The need for this capability is still
being evaluated.

Hi all,

>From the docs, it mentioned that RS 7.0 can monitor vlan.

Can someone here kind enough to explain how it works and how to make
it
works?

Thanks.
