Hi We have several Nokia 530 appliances that we are using as network sensors. They are running version 6.5 of the sensor software and are up to date on XPUs. The OS on the appliances is IPSO 3.6 FCS 4. Each appliance has 1 gig of memory. We have applied ISS patches so that the sensors actually use all of the memory, and we have modified parameters at ISS's direction to make more frugal use of the memory. We are also running SiteProtector 1.2 as the front end to all of our sensors, not RS WGM.
In spite of all efforts the sensors keep crashing with sigchld 20 errors. We have had this problem since we first went live with the Nokias three months ago. After upgrading IPSO to 3.6 the problem appeared to go away for three weeks, but it has resurfaced over the past three weeks. When the network sensor software crashes IPSO does not clean up. The issCSF processes remain in memory in a zombie state. They cannot be stopped either from the SP console or from the Nokia command line. Only a reboot of the Nokias brings the sensors back online. I have rebooted my Nokia farm twice this week. The interval between reboots is growing shorter each time. I am wondering whether there are any other Nokia users out there. If so, are you encountering similar problems? Do you have to reboot the Nokias regularly?
