Malcolm,

You’ve got four choices, install Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2003 Server, move the SCSI backplane off of the built-in RAID controller, or get a RAID controller that is supported under XP.  I ran into this issue last week and upon contacting HP/Compaq, I was informed that the ROC (RAID on chip) controllers that were used in the DL360’s are not supported under XP.  They never wrote a driver for it and, as of the time I talked to HP, don’t plan on writing a driver for XP.  I’m not totally sure, but I don’t think ISS officially supports 2003 Server for the Internet Scanner as of yet, which is what I assume you were intending to install.  So, to sum it up, spend some money to change RAID controllers, lose the RAID functionality, or lose the convenience of terminal services.

Subject: [ISSForum] Internet Scanner 7 on Windows XP

Hi ISS Forum,

I recall this question being ask a couple of weeks ago but i can't seem to find the answer. I have a Compaq Proliant DL360 which i want to run Internet Scanner 7 from. Problem is i can't seem to install Win XP onto the Proliant. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this? Win 2K Prof will install but i can't install Terminal Services on W2K prof and therefore lose my remote management so I was hoping I could use XP (as XP has a terminal services engine built in).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
