Has anyone experienced anomolies when scanning networks that have SMS 2.1
and a SANS installed using IS 6.2.1? We recently scanned such a network and
it seemed as if IS when crazy..it found over 67000 vulnerabilities, most of
which proved to be false positives when verified manually. These ranged from
USERID=PASSWORD to accounts with no password, open shares, and the like.
These are Win2k workstations and servers. It seemed that IS traversed all
the shares that were used by the SAN and SMS and got itself in a round-robin
loop. We did have SmartScan enabled and were using Domain Admin privs in the
KnowAccounts file.
Any suggestions?
