When you said System Scanner, did you mean System Scanner Console or Agent ?
The Console 4.2 actually does support SQL Server 2000.
Ideally I think all consoles (including System Scanner Console and Internet
Console) should go on the same machine as the SiteProtector so that I can have
just one workstation to manage all agents whether they are scanners or sensors.
Any comment on this ?
Any other a real-life configuration ?
Thanks
Bernard

SiteProtector, Fusion, 3rd Party
Module, Internet Scanner,
SystemScanner
1 System Scanner wont install on your SP server if you are running SQL Server.
I guess it might with MSDE, but I bet ISS wont support you.
2. Dont ever run System Scanner / Databrigde together with Internet Scanner
7.0, they really are mutually exclusive. And ISS wont support you.
3. Third party module....well....really a dedicated system for this is a joke.
The volume of data it collects is small and the value it provides
is......ummm.....well I run the Cisco collector on one of my network sensors
and the Checkpoint collector is on the Firewall management server.
4. Internet Scanner 7 runs happily with either its native management GUI and
Site Protector.
My experience is that lumping them together in non-supported configurations
causes more "admin" effort than keeping them apart.

Hi All
We are going to deploy the above software on top of the existing 2 Realsecure
Network and 5 Server Sensors.
The "System requirements" documents require each of the following to be on its
on dedicated machine.
1. System Scanner console (min Pentium II 300 Mhz)
2. SiteProtector/Fusion 3rd Party Module (min 1GHz machine)
3. Fusion (800Mhz machine)
4. Internet Scanner (min. 600Mhz machine) ( I suppose SiteProtector is used as
a console to the Internet Scanner, right ?)
My objective is to use as few systems as possible to minimize the admin.
effort. I think it is silly to manage 4 different systems/sql servers if I can
lump them together onto more power systems in a logical manners:
For example, System Scanner Console/ Site Protector on one 2GHZ machine,
Fusion on its own, Internet Scanner on its own.
Does anyone have success of running these components on shared machines as
opposed to what the documents say ?
Any comments on the other placement methods are welcome.
Thanks
Bernard
